Path Guide

Path Guide is an assistant built into Path Explorer. Ask it a question in plain language and it answers from your store's own data.

Path Guide reads data for you; it never changes anything in your store.

Open it

Every Path Explorer tab has a round ✦ button at the bottom of the page ("Ask Path Guide ✦"). Click it to open the Path Guide panel. Close it with the ✕ or the Esc key. The trash button clears the conversation. On phones the panel opens as a full-width sheet.

Under Suggested for you see starter questions that change with the tab you are on. For example, on Intelligence: "What should I fix first this week?". On AI Agents: "How much of my traffic comes from AI assistants, and do they buy?" and "Which AI agents are crawling my store?".

What you can ask

Anything about what Path Explorer shows: your funnel, where visits drop off, traffic sources, customer segments, journeys and landing pages, product views and carts, chat impact and revenue, bot traffic, checkout journeys, AI-referred visits and agents, and open knowledge gaps. It also explains what a metric or traffic type means.

Path Guide knows which tab you are on and the date range you picked, and starts from that tab's data. It also knows your store's name, description, currency and time zone, your brand profile and Shopify Knowledge Base FAQs, and your orders, linked revenue and top sellers for the period. When a question needs other data, it looks that up too.

What you see

Each answer comes with a line such as Looked at: Shopping funnel · Traffic sources, so you can see where the numbers came from. Some answers add a short tag or suggest a tab to open next. Path Guide remembers the last 8 turns of the conversation; clearing the chat empties it.

How it answers

  • Numbers come from your data; if something is missing, it says what is missing and where to find it.
  • Bots are already excluded, and revenue means linked revenue.
  • Comparing chat with non-chat shoppers is an observed difference, never proof that chat caused it.
  • It does not give verdicts on thin data.
  • It can only read data. It cannot change settings, tag customers or send anything.

Check important numbers against the tab itself before acting on them. If Path Guide cannot answer in time, it gives a shorter summary instead, or asks you to try again in a minute.
