Review and Publish Claude's Changes

With Full access, Claude does not change your live settings directly. It prepares changes as a draft, and you decide what goes live. This page covers the draft, the changes only you can publish, and the one case that skips the draft: the knowledge base.

How a change moves from your request to Claude, the draft, your review and the live storefront

Settings, launch messages and behaviour rules wait in a draft. Knowledge base entries go live immediately. Theme changes go into an unpublished theme copy.

Knowledge base edits go live immediately

When Claude adds, updates or deletes a question-and-answer entry, or adds a document, the change is live right away. There is no draft and no Publish button. Ask Claude to show you the text before it saves, and check your knowledge base afterwards.

Review a draft

  1. When Claude has prepared changes, it tells you to open Claude in ShopGuide (Extras → MCP).
  2. The card Changes prepared by Claude says "Prepared time by connection. Nothing below is live until you publish."
  3. Each change shows the setting name, Now: (what is live today) and New: (what Claude proposes). Read the full text: nothing is shortened.
  4. Click Publish to make everything live, or Discard to throw the draft away.

After Publish you see "Published. The storefront picks up the changes within a minute." If there are no changes, the page shows "There are no pending changes from Claude."

If Claude changed the draft while you were reviewing, Publish is refused with "Claude changed these changes after this page was loaded. Reload the page and review them again." Reload and review again.

Changes only you can publish

Changes marked Needs your approval go live only when you click Publish on this page. Claude cannot publish them itself. They cover things the assistant promises or offers, where shopper data goes, or whether the chat is shown:

  • custom instructions,
  • the support contact (email and channel),
  • lead capture, order editing and order tracking,
  • the discount generator, its value, duration, once-per-customer option and eligible products and collections,
  • the free shipping offer,
  • the options that hide the chat on desktop or phones,
  • behaviour rules (New behaviour rule, Changed behaviour rule, Delete behaviour rule),
  • Delete knowledge document.

Changes Claude can publish after you agree

Every other setting and launch message change can be published by Claude once you tell it in the chat to go ahead. You can always publish or discard it yourself on the Claude page.

Undo a change

  • Settings: ask Claude to restore an earlier version. Settings that need your approval keep their current value.
  • Knowledge base entries: ask Claude to add a deleted entry back. Claude keeps the deleted text for this.
  • Documents: a deleted document cannot be restored from here, which is why deleting one needs your approval.

Theme changes

Claude never writes your theme. If you also connect Claude's Shopify connector, it prepares an unpublished copy of your theme. You publish that copy yourself from Shopify.
