Recommendations for You block
Recommendations for You is a second ShopGuide block for your theme editor. It shows each visitor products picked for them, based on what they've been looking at. You can show them in ShopGuide's own cards, or personalize the product section your theme already has.
Adding the block
In the theme editor, open the page where you want it (the homepage is typical), click Add Section, open Apps, click Recommendations for You, and save.
Where recommendations appear
The setting Where recommendations appear has three options:
- In this block, with ShopGuide's cards (default): the block renders its own row of product cards.
- In the theme section below / In the theme section above: the block shows nothing itself. Instead, the products in the theme section directly below or above it (for example your Featured collection) are swapped per visitor. The recommended products fill the first slots, and your own products fill the rest, so the number of cards in the section doesn't change. Put the block in its own Apps section right next to your theme's Featured collection. If there is nothing to recommend, or anything goes wrong, the collection shows as usual.
In the theme editor, the two theme-section modes show a dashed note instead of the swap, because the editor re-renders sections. The swap only happens on the live store; use Preview to see it. Cards in a swapped section follow your theme's own card design. Heading, product count, layout and card settings below apply to ShopGuide's own cards only.
Settings
- Enable recommendations: on by default.
- Heading and Subheading: the text above the cards.
- Number of products: 2 to 12, default 4.
- Minimum products to show the block: if fewer products than this can be shown, the block hides itself instead of showing a thin row. In a theme section, it keeps its own products.
- Hide sold-out products: on by default.
- Fall back to trending products: when ShopGuide doesn't yet know enough about a visitor, it shows the products most viewed in your store right now. Turn it off to show the block only to visitors who can be personalized for.
- Columns on desktop (2 to 6) and Columns on mobile (1 to 3).
- Space between cards and Card corner radius.
- Show price, Show vendor (off by default), and Show why each product was picked (a small label such as "Often viewed together" or "You looked at this").
