Connect Claude to ShopGuide
Connect Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, to your ShopGuide account and ask for work in plain words. Claude can:
- check your setup and tell you what is missing,
- write launch messages and buttons for every page type and language,
- answer the questions your assistant couldn't, in your knowledge base,
- test your assistant and explain your chat numbers.
You see every change before it goes live, and you can undo it. The one exception is the knowledge base: entries Claude saves go live at once. See Review and publish Claude's changes.
Read only or full access
Every connection has one of two access levels. You choose it on the approval screen.

| Read only | Read your analytics, settings and knowledge base. No changes and no test chats. |
| Full access | Everything in read only, plus prepare setting changes, edit the knowledge base, run test chats and start product syncs. Changes to custom instructions, support contact, discounts, shipping offers and behaviour rules only go live when you publish them yourself. |
Full access is available only for stores that ShopGuide has approved. Every other store connects read only: Claude shows you your numbers, settings and knowledge gaps but cannot change anything. If you would like full access for your store, contact ShopGuide support. If your store is not approved, the Full access choice does not appear on the approval screen.
Connect Claude
- In ShopGuide, open Extras and choose the MCP card. The page is called Claude.
- Under Use ShopGuide with Claude, copy the Connector URL with the copy button.
- Open claude.ai or the Claude desktop app and go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Enter the name ShopGuide and paste the URL.
- Click Connect and enter your store, shown on the page as
your-store.myshopify.com. You land back in your Shopify admin on a Connect Claude to ShopGuide screen. - Choose Read only or, if it is offered, Full access. Read the warning, then click Approve. Click Decline to stop.
Claude is now connected.
Connecting Claude: copy the URL, add it in Claude, approve in your Shopify admin.
Only approve if you started this connection yourself in Claude in the last few minutes. The connection only completes in the browser where you started it.
If the page says "This connection request has expired or was already used", start the connection again from Claude.
Let Claude place the chat in your theme
Want Claude to place the chat in your theme too? Also connect Claude's Shopify connector. Claude then prepares an unpublished copy of your theme, and you publish it yourself from Shopify. ShopGuide plans the placement and checks the result; it never writes theme files itself.
Things to ask Claude
The Claude page lists starter prompts you can copy:
- "Check my ShopGuide setup and tell me what to do next."
- "Write better launch messages for my product pages."
- "Which questions couldn't my assistant answer this month? Help me fix them."
- "How did my chat do over the last 30 days?"

See and disconnect connected apps
At the bottom of the Claude page, Connected apps lists each connection with its access badge (Full access or Read only) and the line "Connected date · last used date". Click Disconnect to end a connection at any time.
