Post-Purchase NPS Survey & Retention Intelligence
Understanding whether customers actually love your products and shopping experience is the foundation of high lifetime value (LTV). Most post-purchase survey tools either spam every customer immediately at checkout or deliver generic surveys detached from the actual conversation that led to the sale.
ShopGuide's Post-Purchase NPS is built specifically for commerce. It automatically identifies chat-assisted orders, waits until the customer has received and experienced their items, and delivers a branded, frictionless 3-question survey.
Why Post-Purchase NPS Works
1. The 10-Day Delivery Cadence
Immediately after clicking "Pay Now," customers can only rate the checkout process—not the product itself.
ShopGuide queues orders attributed to AI chat interactions and schedules the survey email to deliver approximately 10 days after the purchase. This timing ensures:
- The parcel has physically arrived at their door.
- The customer has unboxed and used the product.
- The feedback reflects genuine product satisfaction, brand loyalty, and the lasting impact of the AI recommendation.
2. High Response, Zero Friction
The survey links directly to a clean, mobile-optimized survey page hosted on your ShopGuide domain (/nps/<token>). Customers do not need to log in or fill out lengthy forms—each link contains a unique, secure single-use token tied to their order.
The 3-Question Survey Design
The survey is designed to take less than 30 seconds to complete while providing actionable qualitative and quantitative intelligence:

-
Question 1: Overall Brand NPS (0–10)
"How likely are you to recommend [Store Name] to a friend or colleague?"
This establishes your standard Net Promoter Score. -
Question 2: AI Shopping Assistant Rating (0–10)
"How helpful was your shopping experience with our AI Guide?"
This isolates the performance of the AI assistant from product-level sentiment. -
Question 3: Contextual Open Feedback
An adaptive text field that asks for open feedback. The prompt dynamically adapts depending on whether the customer was delighted or encountered friction, ensuring high-value qualitative feedback.
How NPS is Calculated
Net Promoter Score is an industry-standard index ranging from -100 to +100, originally developed by Fred Reichheld and Bain & Company.
Customers are grouped into three distinct categories based on their 0–10 rating:
| Score | Category | Customer Sentiment |
|---|---|---|
| 9 – 10 | Promoters | Enthusiastic loyalists who buy repeatedly and refer others. |
| 7 – 8 | Passives | Satisfied but unenthusiastic customers vulnerable to competitive offerings. (Included in total respondent count, but neutral to the index). |
| 0 – 6 | Detractors | Unhappy customers who can damage your brand through negative word-of-mouth. |
Example: If 67% of respondents are Promoters and 33% are Detractors, your NPS is +34 (67 − 33).
Because the NPS scale runs from -100 to +100, a score of 0 represents the exact 50% midpoint of the dial (equal number of Promoters and Detractors). Positive scores appear on the green half of the dial, while negative scores appear on the red half. ShopGuide displays scores with explicit signed notation (+34, +68, -12) to avoid confusion with percentage bars.
Industry Benchmarks
- Above 0: Good (more promoters than detractors).
- Above +30: Great (healthy customer loyalty and strong organic referral).
- Above +50: Excellent (world-class customer advocacy).
- Above +70: Exceptional (brands like Apple and Costco).
Automated Klaviyo Customer Enrichment
When a customer completes their survey, ShopGuide does not leave the feedback siloed in an analytics dashboard. It immediately synchronizes the data directly into the customer's Klaviyo Profile:
sg_nps_score: The numerical score (0–10).sg_nps_category: Customer bucket (Promoter,Passive,Detractor).sg_nps_chat_score: The AI assistant helpfulness rating (0–10).sg_nps_comment: The full text of the customer's feedback.
Triggering Automated Retention Flows
ShopGuide also emits a custom Klaviyo event: ShopGuide NPS Submitted.
You can build high-converting Klaviyo flows triggered by this event:
- Promoter VIP Flow (Score 9–10):
- Instantly thank your biggest fans.
- Offer an exclusive VIP referral link, an invite to your loyalty program, or ask for a video testimonial or Google review.
- Detractor Rescue Flow (Score 0–6):
- Automatically alert your customer support team.
- Send a personalized follow-up from the founder or support lead with an apology and a direct resolution before they churn or post a negative review.
